The cost of moving too fast

February 27, 2026 · NGNA Team

A few years ago, one region grew faster than any other we'd seen. New groups were starting almost weekly. We treated it as a success story and started encouraging other regions to move at the same pace.

What we missed was that the coaching structure hadn't scaled with it. Leaders were being asked to start groups with almost no one checking in on how they were actually doing.

Within a year, most of those groups had quietly stopped meeting. Worse, several of the leaders felt they'd been set up to fail and were hesitant to try again.

It took close to two years of slower, more deliberate re-engagement to rebuild that trust. The lesson we keep coming back to: growth that outpaces the coaching behind it isn't really growth. It's borrowed time.
